Are you a skilled CNC Machinist looking for a hands-on role where no two days are the same? HMPS Propac is seeking a motivated and detail-focused professional to join our Adelaide Manufacturing team. This is an exciting opportunity to manufacture precision components for custom-built automated packaging machinery in a dynamic workshop environment.
Working on one-off and small-batch parts, you will play a key role in producing the components that support the build of high-quality, engineered-to-order equipment.
This is a varied and rewarding position suited to someone who enjoys precision machining, problem-solving, and working on custom projects.
You will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC machinery, machining parts to exact specifications, and working closely with engineers and fitters throughout the machine build process.
The role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced machinist who enjoys variety, technical challenges, and ownership of jobs from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC lathes and mills for custom component manufacturing
- Machine parts from a variety of materials including aluminium, stainless steel, and plastics
- Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and 3D models
- Modify and optimise CNC programs to suit one-off jobs and design changes
- Conduct first-off inspections and ensure parts meet tight tolerances
- Work closely with engineers and fitters during machine builds
- Troubleshoot machining challenges and recommend process improvements
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment
About You
You are a skilled tradesperson who takes pride in producing high-quality work and enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
You will bring:
- Strong CNC machining experience (turning essential, milling advantageous)
- Experience in low-volume / high-mix manufacturing environments
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and assemblies
- CNC programming/editing capability (G-code or CAM)
- Experience machining a range of materials used in machinery builds
- High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and custom job requirements
- A proactive and team-focused attitude
Highly Regarded
- Experience in machinery manufacturing, automation, or packaging equipment
- CAD/CAM experience (InventorCAM or SolidCAM)
- Understanding of mechanical systems and component integration into assemblies
